For some hard working folks the thought of a nice upright organ sitting in the parlour of their farmhouse was absolutely wonderful. The new price of $34.95 at Sears Roebuck might have been out of the picture. So back to Sears they went in their horse drawn carriage to look at this new Autophone. This was a small hand cranked pump organ but the music was provided from a cob which when cranked, turned and by activating certain valves produced music.

One of these was brought to me for repair not long ago. I was fascinated by this little box with a crank on it. The first thing in my mind I saw a man standing on the street corner turning
the crank and a monkey dancing in front of him. I was the man turning the crank. Just so you will know which was which!

Send me your cob organ, I'd be happy to make it sound like day one.

Letter from a pump organ (Aunt Estey) to it's owner (Niece Joanne)

To: Niece Joanne
From: Aunt Estey at the Sand Springs Hospital

Dear Niece Joanne,

I know you have called and talked to Dr. Money since I have been in the hospital. Thank you as I appreciate your calls. This is the first time I have felt half way up to writing you. When I left your two car garage apartment with Doctor Money and his nurse, they closed those doors on the emergency transport and I thought for sure I was doomed.

When we arrived at his Sand Springs Hospital, he put me straight into the operating room. I want you to know I flat fell apart into hundreds of pieces. I was really worried.

He operated for hours and now I have new lungs, they feel so good. I sounded like I had emphysema before he got all my voices going. You know, niece, being the ventriloquist that I am, I have many voices. I think doc calls them reeds.

I was so embarrassed the last time I saw you, I had no makeup on. Well, next he started putting color in my cheeks and everywhere else. I haven't needed much pancake makeup since the old gal that I am has pretty well held her shape at the age of 100+. Well, that will all change because when I come back I will have new makeup and new clothes on.

When you step on my red shoes, doc calls them pedals; I will let out beautiful sounds from my new lungs and voices. I am coming to live with you again soon so get prepared.

Sorry I can't make it for Christmas but I will try very hard to be there the week after. I must go now so doc can measure me for new clothes.

Truly Yours,
Aunt Estey

Organ Stop Faces For Sale

Organ Stop Faces for sale $2.50 each

1.
